Nov. 20, 2006 - Our very warm spell of temperatures in the teens Celsius, as high as 21 C., ended abruptly a day or two ago, and now it is quite cool and windy again. As advised by Judy Tufts, I checked out the Wolfville Waterfront Park for PLANTS WITH NEW BLOSSOMS on them and found some for the following species: BLUE OR COW VETCH, RED CLOVER, FALL DANDELION, and possibly GARDEN HELIOTROPE?? (for the latter, just new tiny white flowers but no new leaves). There were also some ASTER flowers, but I believe those were old and just hangers-on that had formed long before that spell of warm weather hit us. Bill and Brenda Thexton report that in the fields along College Road at Windsor, there were about 400 CANADA GEESE over the weekend, 1-2 days ago. And within the past week, at Lakeville¹s Silver Lake there were about 300+ CANADA GEESE, with several HOODED MERGANSERS still present there too.
