Hi,
(approx 15:30)
I saw the same birds that others have reported at Bisset Lake today.
For the record, here are some numbers; about 30 lesser Scaup & 650
Canada Geese. The geese all took to the air to a din of honking and
flapping. They appeared to be flying around in a very disorrganized fashion
but finally seemed to gather some form of order and made their way
in a southerly direction, possibly to the salt water south of Rainbow Haven
beach where one can see large consentrations of geese each winter.
I don't know if they left because it was time to go or if something else
disturbed them. i expect that after the lake freezes up they will move to
the Cole Harbour marsh area which generally stays open most winters.
Cheers,
Dennis Hippern (DHH)
Cole Harbour
