11 November 2006 -- HRM -- Dartmouth and the Eastern Shore

I birded Dartmouth and the Eastern Shore today (part of the time with
Pat McKay), and among the highlights were:

21 Ruddy Ducks -- Bissett Lake
14 American Coots -- 12 on Bissett Lake, plus singles at Shore Road
Pond (Eastern Passage) and Sullivan's Pond
3 Eurasian Wigeon -- two at West Lawrencetown Marsh, and one in Sullivan's Pond
1 Gadwall -- Tufts Cove

Other sightings included:

single Red-throated Loons at Three Fathom Harbour and Martinique
Beach, 4 Black Scoter at Three Fathom Harbour, 12 Surf Scoter along
Shore Drive in Eastern Passage, a Northern Harrier on Devil's Island,
flocks of Snow Buntings and Northern Gannets at Three Fathom Harbour,
Bufflehead and a Black-legged Kittiwake at Martinique Beach, Greater
Yellowlegs at Three Fathom Harbour and Grand Desert, and three
Ring-necked Ducks on Bisset Lake.

Cheers,
