Index of Subjects I spent several days on Brier Island, and was joined for two of them by Ian McLaren. We had 82 species, among which the highlights were: a female Shoveller in the big pond, Pond Cove throughout a Goshawk over the Lighthouse Road on Oct. 31 an imm. Am. Golden-Plover in Pond Cove throughout an Am. Coot found by Carl Haycock along the road in Westport on Nov. 3 (and 2 more the same day in Tiddville Pond, Digby Neck) three Lesser Black-backed Gulls (two first-winter and and adult graellsii) with feeding gulls in Pea Jack Cove on Oct. 30 and another imm. bird at Northern Point on Nov. 3 an E. Phoebe in Westport nice flocks of Pipits, Horned Larks, Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs, mainly in Pond Cove, throughout. a flock of 12 (!!) E. Bluebirds along the Lighthouse Road on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 an adult Pine Warbler at David Pugh's feeder on Nov. 1 a flock of 25 Chipping Sparrows lingering at a feeder in Westport a single imm. Clay-colored Sparrow near Northern Point on Nov. 3. a Field Sparrow near Northern Point on Nov. 1. up to 3 Ipswich Sparrows in Pond Cove throughout a pair of Cardinals regular at feeders in Westport 2 Indigo Buntings newly arrived in Westport on Nov. 2 There were major arrivals of Grackles on Nov. 2/3 and of Juncos at the same time.
