Hi All Yesterday while sitting at a small lake, I was ammused by a flock of about 20 Buffleheads. They were diving, flying around in the area and chasing each other. They were having a grand time! The lake is a woodland lake all surronded by trees - a lot of places there is dead mature softwood but its not likely they would nest there. Where they were is shallow - about 1 meter - and goes up into a swampy area and then to woods. Its a good lake for Ring Necks earlier in the fall and in the spring but they've left for now to somewhere it doesn't freeze. The Buffleheads were probably feeding on insect nymphs but that I wouldn't know for sure. Prehaps there a shoals of baby fish in the area. I need check a little the literature to see Tony Erskine says about their diet. An interesting day Enjoy the fall Paul ____________________________________________________________________________________ We have the perfect Group for you. Check out the handy changes to Yahoo!
