Hi Sandy,
My sister was telling me about a Bald Eagle she had been watching flying above the river. She said it came down caught its prey but could not lift off again....what it did was use its wings and paddled to shore. The river is very wide and it was in the middle when it captured its meal...so had to paddle quite a distance to shore...where it managed to get out of the water and feast.I had never heard of an Eagle doing this before...has anyone else?

> This morning in front of my place on Lyles Bay in Port Clyde there was a mature Bald Eagle hunting. It made numerous swoops low over the water and finally made one last swoop and settled on the water surface much like a gull.
>
> It was on the water for at least 5 minutes doing what appeared to be resting and finally took off. It had its prey in its talons but I could not id what it was successful in capturing.
>
> I have been observing birds and their behavior for about 50 years but this was the first time I saw an eagle swimming
> other than in a video. It was also a sight seeing an eagle take flight from the surface of the water.
