Hi All,
I am the student that requested some advice for her radar project earlier from this list serve. This list was great and I had a great response but I'm back again to ask for some more help!
I was running a radar off of highway 103 near Oak Park in Yarmouth County. Between 7 to 9 am on the morning of September 21st, I recorded huge "blobs" of targets on my radar screen. I was not near the radar during this time so I was not able to see what was actually creating these blobs. One bird usually just creates a small "blob" so I know that there must have been large flocks.
All of these blobs were heading north and northeast-ish at heights ranging from 100 m to over 600 m. I have other radar sites at Pubnico Point, Shag Harbour and Cape Sable but these locations didn't show nearly the number of flocks passing overhead as my "inland" site (although Shag Harbour and Pubnico did have a few; Cape Sable showed none of these large blobs).
So, if anyone saw any large flocks of diurnal migrants or waterfowl, or has any other ideas of what may have been moving around that day, I'd love to hear it!
