Hi all
I spent the morning (Sept. 10) at Caribou I. At the cove about 500 m =
from the lighthouse , I noted 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and an AMERICAN =
GOLDEN PLOVER all in juvenile plumage. On the road ledge at the =
lighthouse, an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was present with the large =
gathering of gulls. The yellow legs and feet stood out. There were about =
100 Bonaparte's Gulls here as well as about 20 Common Terns.
Half way back between the lighthouse and Waterside Park I =
encountered another ( or the same?) adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on a =
sand bar with other gulls. At Waterside Beach PP, I found 2 more ( maybe =
the same?) juvenile BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS . These were very approachable =
for photographing. There were 130 Bonaparte's Gulls here and 6 or so =
Common Terns.=20
At Pier C in Pictou there were another 110 Bonaparte's Gulls =
swimming around the sewer outflow. A Ruddy Turnstone and at Great Blue =
Heron shared space on the wharf with the scores of people fishing from =
the wharf.
