There are still a few Sandpiper species hanging around the Pond, with 1
Greater, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs and 2 Least Sandpipers there yesterday. I
came very close to misidentifying both Yellowlegs species by thinking
the Lesser pair were the two Solitary Sandpipers I photographed a few
days ago...being so close to them they just looked too small, but the
bright yellow legs on these two made it clear. Although it was eating,
the Greater was very weak on its legs and did not look good at all.
An Osprey did some fishing for a few minutes and made a couple of
dives, which is always great to watch but from my very close vantage
point it made it that much better. The male Gadwall duck is starting to
look much more appealing again as he brings on his breeding colors after
being drab for a few months, as are a few of the male Mallards. The
juvenile Lesser Black-backed Gull was there again, and as the juvenile
Herring Gull numbers are increasing, it is very challenging to pick this
fellow out of the crowd. It already was favoring one of its legs from
injury and I noticed a juvenile Herring Gull with one of its eyes nearly
shut besides. It's a battlefield out there.

Here is the first of seven photos for those who care to view, going from
#98 thru #104:
