This ant may not be the Black Carpenter Ant (Camponotus pennsylvanus) but
this pic appears to show yellow hair on the abdomen. Is there a different
one in NS?
Hi Angus & All, Aug 13, 2006
I am not sure what your question is, but this does look like C. pennsylvanicus
based on Hansen & Klotz's 2005 key to major workers and a first hand
unfamiliarity with ants; pale yellow or white appressed pubescence on gaster
about as long as erect hairs.

The gaster hair of C. noveboracensis is less conspicuous, absent
(?) on C. herculeanus and C. nearcticus at 4.5-7.5 mm long
is smaller than the previous three species (6-13 mm).
