Amiga Compression & Conversion Software
- LHA
- LhA is a powerful archiver for the Commodore-Amiga computer.
It is fully compatible with LHA for MSDOS systems and LhArc for MSDOS,
Amiga and *NIX. It is also compatible with LhArcA, LZ and LhArc for
the Amiga. LhA sports fast compression and decompression and has several
commands and options not found in any other currently available archiver
for the Amiga.
- GZIP
- This archiver is used to create and decompress archives ending with .Z
gzip (GNU zip) is a compression utility designed to be a replacement
for 'compress'. Its main advantages over compress are much better
compression and freedom from patented algorithms. The GNU Project
uses it as the standard compression program for its system.
- DMS and DMSui
- DMS was created for the purpose of archiving whole disks.
It is useful for archiving non-filing system disks which
cannot be done with standard file archivers, sending
distribution disks, archiving library collections, and
many other uses. The DMSui program is just a userinterface
to make the whole thing a lot easier, using requesters to
get files and so on.
- LZX version 1.20 (Updated)
- LZX is a fast new archiver with a good compression ratio and many
nifty features. It can group files in an archive so as to make use of
cross-file redundancies which in certain cases results in huge gains
relative to per-file archivers. Even without making use of cross-file
redundancy it seems to perform significantly better than LhA, especially
speed wize. The command line options are LhA-like. LZX is shareware
like LhA; the evaluation version is fully functional, but the registered
version has more features.
- RePack v2
- Repack2 is a utility that wil convert all .lha files into the newer .lzx
format.
