This is in response to the request made some
time ago
by one of our dear members of the family, Jack
Lorenz, who mentioned the possibility of all of us
writing in 500 to 1000 words a brief summary of our lives.
Here you have ours with all our LOVE hoping that when
we see each other soon, in July, we will know more from each other than we know
now...which is very little. So let's remember that the more we give the more we
receive.
======================
Both Zulema and I were born in Mexico City. She
graduated from Pan American High School and then on to Bilingual Commercial
Courses. I went to Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad CA where I learned my
English to the point that I forgot Spanish. Then to Loyola University in LA for
three years of Pre Med. and then to Business because the University of Mexico
City would not revalidate my studies in the US unless I spent two more years.
Returned to Tijuana, started my own business in a family owned Bowling Alley,
had several business in the Sporting Goods field, and then after 35 years of
marriage, my parents divorced, so I moved to Mexico City where I joined Warner
Lambert International, Adams Brands, then to Avon where my life changed after
meeting the most precious person in the world Zulema. She was in the Production
Dept. and I was in Sales. After that, and while her father Hector was still
alive we were all able to enjoy him very much, and also learn how much he loved
his deceased wife Zulema. She was only 46 when she left them. Hector, was like a
father to me and the girls like my sisters. He also passed away being very
young, 54. That brought me closer to them, because we all felt their departure
had been too soon and we had so much to learn from them.
We married in 1970, had our first son Alberto in '71,
then Zulema in '74. We are a very happy family. I
moved from Avon to Tupperware and became President for the Company.
We traveled all over the world and then later we moved
out of Mexico City to live in Tijuana where my three brothers and my
mother lived. My father passed away at age 62 in Mexico City. My mother at age
70 in Tijuana. That is why we treasure life so much because our family is small,
but full of life. We lived in Coronado, CA for a few years and also had our
house here in Tijuana, Mexico. We had a nice small '43 Ocean Alexander Motor
Yacht and kept it for four years when we decided to come and develop our
property here. We have ocean front property and plan to develop a small American
home community shortly. Our kids Alberto and Zulema
went to School in the US and Mexico and are both bilingual 100%. Zulema
graduated as a Graphic Designer and Alberto is an Air Conditioning Technician.
Both married, Alberto lives in the US, Zulema three blocks from us, with Daniela
our first grand who will be three years old in March. Last month as some of you
already know, we were blessed with the news that Alejandro and Zulema Jr. 24 are
cooking a new baby, but also Alberto 27 and Laura are in for their first
bambino. Both due within a few days from each other in late
September.
I presently own part of an Industrial, Commercial and
Residential Park where large Companies like Hyundai, and Samsung have invested
heavily. I just turned 56, Zulema 50. I have and breed German Shepherds, they
can run to their heart's content, and one cat who is like a family member,
named Mini.
I am one of the fortunate ones that have an open mind
with hardly any hair up there, weigh 240 lbs.... and 6'5"
tall.
Very enthusiastic, dynamic, cannot stay put,
love the outdoors, read, write, train my dogs, a lot of patience, and many
natural faults that we try to polish as we try to live this only opportunity
called LIFE.
Zulema, who is slim like her mother, is the most
dedicated, patient, most wonderful wife, mother, friend, housewife, lover, sister, assistant, consultant, Professional Translator,
loves crafts, you name it... she is.
We open our hearts to all of you, and as you have heard
the old saying many times..
..." Mi casa es tu casa "......well let it
be, and feel that all of you are always welcome to
come and visit any time you feel like it. After all we are a family...and soon a
very large and beautiful family.
We look forward to seeing you very soon, and hoping
that this little short story encourages you to do the same. After all it only
takes a little time and dedication to do. So ask yourselves......
If I have a positive attitude that not too many people
have, can I dedicate a little time to my lost family and try to reunite? Please
answer yes and find that little time. We will all
appreciate it and treasure it.
We love you all...
Alberto & Zulema
