Sloop
A single masted vessels. Sloops were the smallest of privateers. Fast and
handy, but good for only short voyages, they were mainly used for short
cruises against New England.
Schooner
A topsail schooner was the favourite rig of privateersmen
Brigantine
A good compromise between a schooner and a square rigged vessel, they
were popular for longer distance privateering, espeically in the West
Indies.
