- BS '62 and MS '66 degrees in Industrial Vocational Education, Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. Beta Tau Epsilon award as outstanding senior in College of Applied Sciences
- Instructional Experience
- Approx. 7 years as an instructor of Architectural Drafting, Mechanical Drafting and Mechanical Design in post-secondary Manitoba Institute of Technology (Red River College) in Manitoba. Taught related courses in technical writing and technical mathematics.
- Occupational Research
- 4 years as Occupational Analyst with federal Manpower Department, researching a variety of technical occupations and identifying training content for programs in Canada's technical institutes and community colleges. Also involved in Functional Analysis of major industries to identify human resource requirements.
- Human Resources Applied Research
- 4 years as Occupational Training Manager with Nova Scotia NewStart Inc., designing, supervising and managing training programs for the disadvantaged. Extensive program design and innovation, proposal writing and project report writing. Principal designer of the DACUM system of job analysis, training organization, and performance appraisal.
- Consulting and Learning Program Installation
- A year contract travelling and disseminating the research in Canada and USA, then 6+ years spent aiding a variety of organizations across Canada in analyzing occupations and establishing training and HRD using the DACUM system; education departments, colleges, universities, and various private sector and public employers. Built models of numerous occupations, including several in ship building and marine operations, 25 in community services in NWT, several in construction and road building, many social service careers in NS and Ontario, and several for business occupations and technologists in PEI and NS.
- Organizing Municipal Training
- 4 years with NS Government organizing training and certification for a variety of municipal occupations; assessment property mappers, planning technicians, development officers, tax collectors, building inspectors. Served as Exec Secretary and managed certification for Atlantic Building Officials Council.
- HRD And Marketing, Real Estate
- 5 years in ICI real estate, initially in HRD, coaching young professionals in computing, writing, organization, project management, leasing and property management. Served as in-house computer resource for offices in Nova Scotia and Alberta, selecting and installing initial systems, developing models and improving staff skills in word processing, spread sheet and financial analysis software. Took on design and preparation of project marketing packages, later developing and using video for marketing.
- Video Production, Graphics And Consulting
- Established own video production service in 1990, to prepare promotional, marketing and training videos for various organizations. Developed computer graphics capacity to support video and interactive multi-media programs. Also engaged in part time consulting preparing commercial real estate marketing packages, corporate promotional materials and project proposals. Developed graphics for a PC video game, designed graphics for a CD multi-media promotional service. Currently developing and preparing to market own video-based learning program for business.
