Dancer/choreographer/designer Sheilagh Hunt has been on stage performing for more than a dozen years. Maritime audiences may know her as a performer from many of the productions she has appeared in with The Halifax Dance Co-op Company, Sekai & Friends, Montage Dance Theatre, and Nova Dance Theatre or a variety of independent choreographers with whom she has worked.
They may also know her as a choreographer from her independent work such as Please, No Photographs, In Performance (with Louise Hoyt & Sherry-Lee Hunter), Splicing Dice, From Plato's Cave to Schrodinger's Cat, AfterImage, Pandora, and Peregrinations and Combinations. The latter was presented at the Atlantic Fringe as part of the Dancing on the Edge of the Fringe show. They may also be familiar with many of her unique costumes for, as resident designer with Nova Dance Theatre. In 1993 Atlantic Fringe Festival audiences had an opportunity to see her two-act play, Adrift.
Sheilagh was formerly a core member of the Pomorze Polish Folkdance Ensemble and has toured with them in Canada, the United States and Poland. In addition to dancing and assisting with the group's costumes she was its resident dance-technique instructor and also choreographed for the company in works such as Ostatnia Niedziela. During the fall winter and spring terms Sheilagh also teaches classes for Halifax Dance.
