About PasteAsHTML

About PasteAsHTML is an application which converts text on the clipboard into simple HyperText Markup Language.

PasteAsHTML requires that you are running a Macintosh with AppleScript installed.

Version 7.5 and beyond of the Mac Operating System include AppleScript, and older versions of MacOS System 7 may also include it. Without Applescript support you cannot run PasteAsHTML.

How it works

Pretty simple really. PasteAsHTML does not have an interface. Once installed, simply copy the text you want to convert from your word processor or other application. Then, run PasteAsHTML. PasteAsHTML adds simple HTML tags to the text on the clipboard. You can now paste the contents of the clipboard into a new document, or, of you are on-line, directly into your editor.

PasteAsHTML is designed to create the kinds of HTML documents in the format used by Chebucto Community Network.

Here's what you get. If you copy this text:

PasteAsHTML is a work in progress, and is still in beta testing. You may send comments to the author at aa019@chebucto.ns.ca.

That's it at this point. No bells, no whistles, no options. If people request it, I can add features such as automatically putting a link to your index page at the bottom of your HTML documents.

If you're interested in a customized version, perhaps to add other types of HTML tags, please let me know. (Hint: making a cash donation to Chebucto Community Network is a good way to get a customized version in a hurry.)
