Virginia Foo Lai Fun Lee,
Age 66, passed away suddenly but peacefully on April 7, 2023, in Halifax with her beloved husband Ken Lee by her side. Virginia was born in Hong Kong. Her parents, Diana and Chris Foo, moved to Canada when she was eight years old. Ken and Virginia met at the University of Toronto where she was studying biology. She obtained her MBA from the same university. After they married in 1982, Virginia fully supported Ken's scientific career which took them to cities across Canada including Toronto, Ont., Victoria, B.C., Ottawa, Ont., and Rimouski, Que., and also to Perth in Western Australia, but Halifax was always their home. Professionally, Virginia had a successful career with her final role before retirement as the Director of Business Process and Integration of Dalhousie University. In retirement, she served on the boards of the Seniors' College Association of Nova Scotia and Northwood Care Inc. to enrich the lives of seniors across the province. She had a diverse range of interests and passions, including cooking, wine tasting, book clubs, and boating with Ken. Virginia was known for her beaming smile, quick wit and generosity towards her family, friends, and community. She is survived by Ken; her parents; her sisters, Lily (Raymond) in Ottawa; and Chris (Greg) in Hong Kong, and nieces and nephews in Canada, Singapore, England and Australia. Her devotion to and love of her family was clear and profound. Virginia's unique ability to provide wise counsel, practical help and support touched so many lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held in Halifax at a later date. Donations in Virginia's memory may be made to Lupus Canada or a charity of your choice.
