Hi Richard:

I am now able to see a reply function. I don't believe that was
available initially, or at least it was certainly not obvious to me.
And of course, not having the reply e-mail “saved” in an appropriate
file, an ongoing problem, is more than a nuisance it is unacceptable.

It seems to me some of the essential menu functions from the get go
were not available and the function menu still appears to be in a
state of transition.

I am still having problems deleting unwanted e-mails without having to
open them. I suggest this is a risk to the security of individual
members and Chebucto generally. You should not have to open an
unwanted e-mail to delete it to avoid spam or worse a virus.

Yes, there is a delete function (on the bottom menu now) but putting a
check in the box to the left of the suspect or unwanted e-mail and
prompting delete does not highlight or obviously indicate it has been
deleted. Nor does clicking on the action prompt (again, I suggest, a
relatively new additional feature) indicate anything has been
achieved. Indeed, often the e-mail in question is not deleted. I have
followed this procedure with the “purge deleted “function as well.
Sometimes, inexplicably, it takes repeating this procedure several
times before the unwanted e-mail is removed.

The new Horde server seems to be an experiment and the Chebucto
membership Guinea pigs along for the ride.

It is obvious to all of us members NOW that there were fatal problems
with the original server. Presumably it was known within the Chebucto
tech community that it was going to need to be replaced before the
emergency that required that it be removed and replaced immediately
without any advance notice to us client members. Clearly, we should
have been given advance warning and advised to copy or back up
important files. I, and presumably everyone else, lost the entirety of
my address book and all of my sent files. Fortunately, I had taken the
precaution and did “save” some crucial files and addresses but many
more were lost. I have been advised that someone is now trying to
retrieve the original address books. Has there been any progress on
that issue?

I have been a member of Chebucto almost since the beginning, 20 years
or so now, and I support the premise of the Community Net. I
understood and tolerated the growing pains at the beginning and I
have, I think, been a patient client. I am still hanging on here but
we, Chebucto, should be more than just an experiment at this stage and
we, as members, should be treated better than Guinea pigs.

Sandy
