Hi Userhelp:

I have a particular vexatious computer problem that has occurred
within the last couple of weeks.

My computer has become very slow ?logging? on to the internet but even
when I have Internet access it can be slow ?logging? on to various
sites, so much so I eventually have to give up. There have been times
lately when I have been unable to log into chebucto despite having
access to Google, or once I am into the Chebucto home site it takes so
long to access my mail I am timed out.

Frankly, however, the problem is not longer isolated to Chebucto. It
happens lately when I try to access most internet cites. It seems
more pronounced with respect to trying to access Chebucto but it no
longer is isolated to Chebucto.

I have checked (by Phone) and confirmed Google is working fine.

Other background information that may be useful, I access by computer
by wireless with permission from a neighbour who lives in the
apartment immediately next door. It has worked fine up until now. I
have also run a virus check with both Spybot and Avira ( free)
anti-virus programs I have installed and they report no problems.

I would like to say the problem is periodic ,and there are times when
I can obtain access to Internet and progress to other cites in a
timely manner, but lately not so much . It is becoming almost a
chronic problem.

I did receive advice recently ,during a call to Chebucto, to check via
the Command Prompt to see how quickly the server Allaint was
processing and it seemed normal ( according to the tech). I am aware
Alliant sometimes is part of the problem but this seems to be a new or
different problem. The suggestion was made that it may be electronic
interference or even the weather which all seemed plausible with the
stormy humid weather lately but the situation persists and I am back
looking for more advice.

I would appreciate your suggestions please. ( Keep in mind computer is
essential for my communication . I use it everyday but I am not very
knowledgeable about technical aspects. )

I have checked on the Internet and see a program called Registry
Patrol at this cite: http://registrypatrol.com/ that seems like it
may offer a good diagnostic service . Would this be a safe and/or
wise program for me to use?

Sandy
