Today in Fredericton, the New Brunswick Environmental Network announced “Earth Ed”, their new environmental education catalogue. Earth Ed is a comprehensive bilingual database with over 400 listings geared to the New Brunswick curriculum. “Teachers can easily find useful books and materials for the classroom. They can connect with speakers who will give presentations or they can locate interesting field trip destinations so students can learn in an interactive way about the environment. It is a very exciting and valuable instrument for all educators. Basically it was designed by educators - for teachers”, said Christa McMillan, NB Environmental Network webmaster. The goal of Earth Ed is to provide an opportunity for teachers to obtain materials and resources to actively engage their students in environmental learning and sustainability education. “Teachers can perform searches for resources which will fit specific curriculum outcomes. Searches can be refined by language, environmental topic, course stream or grade level”, continued McMillan. This easy to use catalogue was produced by the New Brunswick Environmental Network with funding from the New Brunswick Environmental Trust Fund. Earth Ed is accessible online at www.nben.ca/earthed.htm. The New Brunswick Environmental Network (NBEN) was established in 1991. It is a communication network linking together over 75 non-profit environmental organizations throughout NB. The role of the NBEN is to improve communication and co-operation among environmental groups and between these groups, government and industry. The NBEN provides educational opportunities for it’s member and associate groups and encourages the growth of the environmental movement in New Brunswick. -30- Photos: www.nben.ca/earthed_pics.htm Contact: Christa McMillan, NBEN Webmaster, Tel: (506) 433-6101, nben@nbnet.nb.ca _______________________________________ New Brunswick Environmental Network Réseau environnemental du Nouveau-Brunswick 167 chemin Creek Rd, Waterford, NB, E4E 4L7 Tel/Tél : (506) 433-6101 Fax/Téléc : (506) 433-6111 nben@nbnet.nb.ca http://www.web.ca/nben e-zine: http://www.elements.nb.ca Earth Ed / Éduc terre : http://www.nben.ca/earthed.htm Affiliate of / affilié Canadian Environmental Network Réseau canadien environnemental http://www.cen-rce.org ____________________________________________________________________________ Did a friend forward this to you?
