Thanks! ____________________________________________________________________________ Subject: MARTIN WILLISON heads up 8 GREENS to be elected at Wednesday evening's NOMINATION Meeting at Captain Spry Centre To the Media: Hi, my name is Rebecca Mosher and I am helping to organize this Wednesday's JOINT-NOMINATION Meeting for 8 federal GREEN PARTY candidates. The meeting takes place at 7PM, this Wednesday March 17th, at the Captain Spry Community Centre, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield. (The Centre, housing the Spryfield Library and Pool, is the first building beyond the Mainland South Shopping Centre, Spryfield's only mall.) Here are the names and phone/email of the eight declared candidates and their ridings.(The three remaining candidates will be nominated in their own ridings.) The N.S. GREENS' intention is to have a full slate of 11 candidates nominated, with a $1000 deposit, full list of voter signatures on their nomination papers, and paperwork completed, waiting at the 11 Returning Officers' doorstep on April 9th, the very first day that nomination papers can be filed after the election writ is dropped on April 5th. ________________ MARTIN WILLISON, well known for his work in protecting fish habitats and a professor at Dal's School of Resource and Environmental Studies, will challenge Fisheries Minister Geoff Regan in HALIFAX WEST. 477-6102 (w) 494-2966 willison@dal.ca MICHAEL ODDY, will re-offer again in the HALIFAX riding he ran in, back in 2000.Oddy is a Social Studies teacher at Sir John A MacDonald High, a resident of Fox Point ,HRM and the Nova Scotia GREEN Shadow Critic on Defense and Foreign Affairs. fernythicket@ns.sympatico.ca 857-2058 DAVID FULLERTON will seek the GREEN nomination in SACKVILLE EASTERN SHORE. He is from Lake Fletcher in the riding, where his family have lived for generations.A co-founder of the PITA BOYS chain of healthy food restaurants,Fullerton now markets ecotourist biking tours throughout Nova Scotia. david_fullerton74@hotmail.com 499-7485 KATIE BOUDREAU,of Dayspring,Lunenburg County, will run in the riding of SOUTH SHORE ST MARGARETS. Boudreau is a writer and researcher, with an Honours degree from the University of Toronto in International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies and an interest in the economies of rural wind power. ktb_boudreau@yahoo.ca 446-2199 MICHAEL MARSHALL will run in the DARTMOUTH COLE HARBOUR area where he ran once before - for the NDP. After 33 years of activism with the NDP, he recently left that party over the lack of committment to environmental issues amongst its longtime ELECTED provincial governments. ad760@chebucto.ca 422-4968 KEVIN STACEY of Baxters Harbour,Kings County, will run against Scott Brison in KINGS HANTS. STACEY is no stranger to media attention for his efforts to address wrongs as a private citizen, but has now gone into politics because of the GREEN Party's steadfastness in focusing attention on the biggest problem facing the Earth.582-7654 kstacey3777@hotmail.com SEUMAS GIBSON is a musician and story-teller from a Gaelic speaking and reading family from Judique, a place where musician-politicians are by no means a rarity. The famous challenge of "Judique on the Floor" rings out again as Gibson challenges for the seat of CAPE BRETON CANSO. wenmacgibson@yahoo.ca 454-0656 REBECCA MOSHER, that's me, will be running against Peter MacKay in CENTRAL NOVA. My mother and big brother probably won't be voting for me because they are big Conservative workers for MacKay, but that is okay, I come from a family of 15 kids, so I can afford to lose a few family votes. I was born in The Irelands, at the apex of Antigonish,Pictou and Guysborough Counties (why did you think I picked March 17th - St Patrick's Day - for us to sport the wearin' of the GREEN ??!) My dad made a 'little' living; cutting wood the original 'low impact forestry' way - with a big Belgian work horse - and I helped. Since then, I've been active in community health & environment, in women's issues and in the peace movement. I may sound a little informal but we are a new and very small party here in Nova Scotia. We are citizens. We are concerned about the environmental crisis. Finding no party willing to pay more than lip service to the environment,we decided to create our own political team. We hope to force the big parties to pay attention to environmental issues,or begin to face the electoral consequences........ Respectfully submitted, Rebecca Mosher az545@chebucto.ca 453-2011 color jpgs and fuller BIOs of all these candidates available upon request. ____________________________________________________________________________ Did a friend forward this to you?
