Dear fellow green-living and green-thinking Nova Scotians: The Nova Scotia section of the Green Party of Canada is making remarkable progress. The national party is poised to make an historic political breakthrough, but to do so we need to "pull out all the stops" (for those not familiar with church organs, this means "step on the gas"). With an election call likely within four weeks, we need to ensure that everyone who wishes to vote for a GREEN candidate or who wishes to become a GREEN candidate, is a paid-up member of the Green Party . Here are FOUR methods by which you can do it: Method 1 - on-line with credit card: Go to http://www.green.ca/english/membership.phtml Click on "donation form" Method 2 - download application form and send the form with cheque by mail: As for Method 1, but click on "this form". Method 3 - By mail without an application form: The minimal information required is: Your name and mailing address, federal riding (if known). Preferred additional information: Telephone number and email address You MUST also state in writing "I am not a member of another federal political party", and sign beside this statement. You must provide a financial donation. The amount is dependent on your ability to pay - the minimum is $10. Since you can claim 75% of the donation as a tax credit, if you will pay federal taxes in 2004, a donation of $100 actually costs you $25. Send this to: Green Party of Canada, P.O. Box 997 Station B, Ottawa, Ont. K1P 5R1 Method 4 - at the Halifax nomination meeting, March 17th. Application forms will be available at the meeting which begins at 7 p.m. at the Captain William Spry Community Centre, Sussex St., Spryfield. For those unfamiliar with the community centre, Sussex St. is a right turn off Herring Cove Road immediately after the traffic lights beside the shopping centre at Dentith Road. This is about 5 km from the Armdale Roatary and is served by the #20 bus (get off at the shopping centre). Buses #14 and #32 also stop within a short walk of the community centre. The centre has a clock tower and red roof, visible from Herring Cove Road. If you want a receipt that will render your donation eligible for a tax credit, remember to bring your cheque book!
