Thanks! ____________________________________________________________________________ Workshop on Climate Change Projects and Opportunities for Nova Scotian NGOs Organized by the Climate Change Centre and Environment Canada For: Employees and volunteers with non-government organizations and others concerned with climate change. Where: Alderney Landing Theatre Rotunda, 2 Ochterloney St. (in the Ferry Terminal on Alderney Drive), Dartmouth, NS When: Wednesday, March 3, 2004, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. What: This workshop, organized by Clean Nova Scotia’s Climate Change Centre and Environment Canada, is structured to provide useful information, tools, and networking opportunities for NGOs working on climate change projects and those considering working on climate change projects. NGOs conducting climate change related work in Nova Scotia are invited to showcase their projects, facilitate information exchange and enable other NGOs to better understand the current state of climate change work in Nova Scotia. Breakout groups will explore new project ideas for NGOs, particularly for those considering involvement in climate change. Proposal writing tips and funding opportunities will be discussed, and a mock-up EcoAction proposal will be completed step-by-step. The full day workshop is free; however pre-registration is required by February 27th (see registration form below). Agenda 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Set-up of project displays 8:30 – 9:00 Sign-in and project display showcase 9:00 - 9:15 Introduction of workshop and participants 9:15 – 10:00 Overview of climate change science – why climate change is an important environmental issue (including impacts on parks and wilderness, coastal zones, etc.) 10:00 – 11:30 Presentation of select Nova Scotian climate change projects 11:30 – 12:30 Lunch (provided) and project display showcase 12:30 – 1:30 Brainstorming new project ideas for NGOs (small group breakout sessions) 1:30 – 3:00 Proposal Writing Tips and Applying to Eco-Action for Funding – tips on how to write a proposal that will get your project funded (including a step by step Eco-Action Community Funding application) 3:00 - 3:30 Feedback and Wrap-up Please complete and return the registration form by Friday, February 27, 2004.
