Our keynote speaker, Bob Bancroft, is a well-known forestry and wildlife biologist and radio personality. Topics range from managing woodlots for biodiversity, forestry restoration and planting native species in your backyard or hedgerow to tree medicine and native lore, as well as developing creative solutions. Youth will be part of the focus of this year's gathering, with workshops and discussions aimed at young people interested in learning more about Nova Scotia's forestry issues and becoming involved as environmentalists. Expect discussions, slide shows, theatre and interactive workshops in and out of doors. The week-end is a great opportunity for those working the forest, organic farmers and people interested in conservation to share mutual goals and discuss ways to work together effectively. This is also a good way for youth to learn about the issues and find out how they can use their creativity to make a difference FUN will also be a major focus of the NSEN's gathering, with a LIVE BAND, FOOD, GAMES, and DISCUSSION! On Friday night loosen up with theatre improv led by Hemlock Circus. Saturday night will start out with an energetic ultimate frisbee game followed by a live performance with Dusty Sorbet, a Halifax-based folk singer who writes original music, and a live jam. Bring your instruments. Come listen and learn, plant seedlings, take part in discussions, develop actions, take a walk through the woods, be entertained and eat well.
