Just wanted to let everyone know about a project we're really excited about! Over the next few weeks, we plan to launch the NECGA Seed Exchange, where gardeners can post info on seeds they would like to trade with other gardeners in HRM. The goal is to set up a searchable online database listing sources of open-pollinated seeds throughout HRM and potentially the Maritimes. The service will be free, and we hope it will encourage the proliferation of open-polinated varieties in community gardens and backyards alike. Eventually, the exchange will be available on our website, but for now we're accepting submissions via email at necga@chebucto.ns.ca. If you have any seeds/plant material you'd like to make available to the public, we encourage you to send us as much info as possible on them - from how long it takes to grow to where people can get them - and we'll add it to our database. We look forward to your participation!
