A message from "andrew angus" <andrew@bethechange.ca> to Sustainable Maritimes (sust-mar) subscribers. Hello, I wanted to pass a note along to keep you all updated on what we are doing to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the HRM this summer. We have just started a new garden care business that has a focus on organic gardening and yard maitenance. We will be: - planting vegetable gardens in the city to help us to reconnet with our food and eat delicious home grown fruits and vegetables. - cutting grass using a push lawnmower and scythe so that there are no greenhouse gas emissions. - using a bicycle trailer as transportation thus eliminating another potential source of emissions. - avoiding the use of any chemical pesticides or fertilizers thereby reducing our dependance on fossil fuels. Our primary objective is not to create wealth but rather to promote social change. Solar Juice therefore does not really fit into any traditional catagories of businesss, non profit, community group or co-opperative but in fact is a mix of all four in various ways. We are all activists who are trying to create employment for ourselves by implementing the principals that we talk about so often. This hybrid venture is still being defined as we work. If you are interested in learning more about solar juice please visit our website at http://www.solarjuice.ca or call us at 420-1765 and we can send you a copy of our business plan 'Towards Life After Capitalism." If you would like to support our work by having us doing yard work around your home please contact us as well. thanks Andrew ------------------------------------------- Andrew Angus PO Box 33149 Quinpool RPO Halifax, NS B3L 4T6 902.420.1765 fax 902.423.8599 solarjuice@bethechange.ca http://www.solarjuice.ca If a friend forwarded this email to you, please consider joining sust-mar yourself.
