Refreshments provided Dr. Larry Haiven, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management of the Faculty of Commerce at Saint Mary's University. He is also the Secretary and Chair of the Research Advisory Committee of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) Nova Scotia Office (http://www.policyalternatives.ca/). His lecture addresses alternative provincial and federal government policy and public financing issues and their impacts on business and provides information about the work of the CCPA. From 1989-2001, Dr. Haiven was an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Relations and Organizational Behaviour in the College of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan. He has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, a Master of Public Management from the University of Alberta, and a PhD from the School of Industrial and Business Studies at University of Warwick in England. His areas of interest include: Industrial Relations; Political Economy; Health Care Policy and Industrial Relations, Employment Law; Public Policy; Government; Business and Government; Business and Society. These mugs also make perfect gifts and help reduce the waste of paper/styrofoam coffee cups. 4) TRADING DEMOCRACY" - MAR. 11 Film Showing: "Trading Democracy" & Q&A with Dr. Gilbert Winham, International Trade Law Expert and Political Science Professor Tuesday, March 11 7:00-8:30 PM ScotiaBank Auditorium, McCain Building (FASS Building) 6135 University Ave. This is the Bill Moyers' 2002 documentary about NAFTA's Chapter 11. Learn how this trade agreement threatens democracy, the natural environment and human rights and why we need to be worried about the FTAA. The film is 50 minutes long and is followed by a discussion with Dr. Winham. A great chance to ask your questions about the WTO/GATT, NAFTA and the FTAA.
