The TRAX Project of the Ecology Action Centre has an immediate opening
for a U-PASS Coordinator. Note the deadline is Wednesday, December 5.

U-PASS Project Coordinator Job Description

The TRAX (TRansportation HalifAX) Project of the Ecology Action Centre
would like to hire a coordinator to promote the U-PASS (Universal Bus
Pass) system at Saint Mary’s University (SMU). If passed in the February
referendum, the U-PASS would enable students to have unlimited access to
the bus for the academic year for a cost of approximately $110. The
project has tremendous potential to increase transit ridership and
reduce air pollution from driving. Job tasks would include background
research on the U-PASS, preparing promotional material, liaising with
different groups, general activities related to Metro Transit promotion
and other tasks as they arise.

Skills:

· Strong project promotion ability
· Knowledge of the impacts of transportation on health and the
environment
· Strong interest in promoting increased public transit
· Ability to work with different stakeholders, including Metro Transit,
the SMU Student Council, SMU Student Administration, student groups and
others
· Research experience
· Experience designing ads and posters
· Strong presentation and writing skills
· Ability to work independently
· Computer literacy in MS Office, including Word, Excel, familiarity
with e-mail and  internet
· Basic accounting (tracking expenses and submitting invoices to funding
agency)
· Persistent, optimistic approach, with ability to find new ways to
solve problems
· Experience in working with NGOs an asset
· Metro Transit user would be an asset!

This is a half-time position (19 hours per week) starting immediately
until the end of March. The pay is $15.70 an hour.
