POSITION AVAILABLE Internship at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre A collaboration between HMSC and Department of Fisheries and Oceans Position title: Aquaculture-Environment Internship Suitable for a graduate wishing to (a) learn about the marine environment and aquaculture, (b) develop professional skills in information resources and dissemination, (c) with a view towards a career in research, consulting, or with government agencies. Duration Starting as soon as possible until 31 March 2003. Salary $8.25/h. Full-time. Responsibilities: · Update bibliographic databases on aquaculture-environment interactions and sealice · Identify gaps by analysing patterns in the databases · Produce newsletter on sealice · Assist organization of workshop and international conference on sealice · Assist development of new research proposals · Develop information leaflets for the public on aquaculture-environment interactions · Develop web based tools for disseminating this information (links, leaflets, etc.) Requirements - undergraduate degree providing basic knowledge of biology and marine environment - comfortable with computers - organized, meticulous, self-directed, and able to meet deadlines - interested in pursuing a career in environmental management, aquaculture, or marine research Eligibility This position is funded under the Science & Youth Internships Program through DFO. Applicants must be: 1. Legally entitled to work in Canada; 2. Under the age of 31 at the date of registration with the Youth Internships Program and under 32 when accepting the Internship; 3. Have not been previously accepted or paid under any internship program funded by the Youth Employment Strategy of the federal government; 4.
