Not just for themselves but for all. March 22nd to March 24th will be a great chance for anyone who is\or wants to work for change in Atlantic Canada to come together talk about experiences, get educated on important issues, and plan out effective campaigns for change. Get Educated!! Learn about the issues that concern so many of the people of the Atlantic from the people who are currently working on them! Topics will include: - Local Issues that surround our communities such as: the Sydney tar ponds, Native Rights,water privatization, Pesticides, and Forestry practices. - Issues that are of Concern of communities around the world: Globalization/Global institutions (IMF/World Bank), Racism, Food, Sexism, and a talk from a Zimbabwean student about the oppression and democracy in Africa. - Skill Building: Making your own media, Group decision making, Influencing government policy, and Grassroots organizing. - We will also focus on our culture by listening to many maritime poets and storytellers. - French/English Translation Available at workshops if needed. (also call us to inquire about childcare) A Huge part of this conference is to bring people together from all Atlantic provinces to meet, make ties with people in other provinces, and create alternatives by building on a Atlantic wide coalition for positive change!! We will discuss how to build the coalition, what campaigns we want to work on, how to build awareness in your own community, and how to create alternatives.
