To be distributed far and wide! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Job Announcement: Membership Coordinator (Part-time) Goal: To maintain and increase membership in the Ecology Action Centre Tasks 1) Recruiting new members through: i. organization of membership month activities (September) ii. a strong presence at community events iii. mail outs and other methods iv. strong presence of membership committee at EAC events v. encouraging staff, board, and volunteers to sign-up new members vi. designing effective and intriguing exhibits v. a variety of new ideas 2) Renewal and Membership Support -coordinate mail out of renewal notices on a bi-monthly basis and do follow up calls -investigate the potential for using e-mail for sending out renewal notices to members -encourage the organization to stay in touch with members through our newsletter, e-mail, phone requests and annual events such as the Garden Party 3) Membership Committee -support and strengthen membership committee, including writing of action minutes -organize monthly meetings of committees -recruit new members for the committee 4) Database Maintenance -work with the Office Manager to ensure that database is maintained and backed-up 5) Assist Summer Students and Volunteers -work with summer students and volunteers on membership tasks Qualifications: We are looking for someone who cares about the environment and EAC and who likes people and is not shy about approaching potential members. The Membership Coordinator should also be a well-organized individual who can work with a minimum of supervision. There is a lot of potential and opportunity with this job. Applicants should remember that approaching strangers about joining an environmental organization is not a job for everyone. We would prefer a candidate with at least a Bachelor’s degree in relevant areas, including Public Relations or Commerce or equivalent experience. The Coordinator would report to the Membership Committee and, on a day-to-day basis, the Internal Director.
