Candle Light Vigil for Global Peace Tuesday, October 30th, 2001 Grand Parade Square Barrington St. at George St. 6:30pm Concerned Haligonians will hold a candle-lit vigil for those who have died, those who continue to die, and those who face death in the wake of September 11th. For the victims of terror and war, we will be lighting candles to express our grief and sorrow. We Are Grieving for those who died in the tragedies of Sept 11th and other terrorist attacks. We Are Grieving for the innocent victims of the bombings in Afghanistan. We Are Grieving for the millions of innocent Afghanis who face starvation in the wake of the bombings. We Are Grieving for the victims of racism and racial profiling in our own country and around the world. We Are Grieving for the women and men who are being sent off to fight an unjust war and the families they leave behind. But in grieving we also demand justice. We Demand Justice for the victims of Sept 11th through legal and legitimate prosecution of the guilty. We Demand Justice for the people of Afghanistan from whom war has taken so much and who have so little hope. We Demand Justice for the victims of racism and racist attacks, that we should all live in a world free of hatred. We Demand Justice for the families of the service-people who must be parted from their loved ones to support an injustice. We Demand Justice for all Canadians who are now faced with the dismantling of their civil rights. Our Grief is Not a War Cry! Our Grief is a Cry for Justice! Mobilization for Global Justice is a coalition of groups and individuals working for a better world. Please bring candles and signs, families and friends. -- Peter Davison, Innerwealth Consultant, Life Purpose Consulting Tel: (902) 492-4104, Fax: (902) 422-1922 Email: Peter@purpose7.com, Web: www.purpose7.com "Each of us has an instrument to bring to the vast orchestra of humanity." - Jean Vanier -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- The preceding message was posted on the Sustainable Maritimes mailing list (sust-mar). http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/lists/sust-mar -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Volunteer moderator: Paul Falvo mailto:sust-mar-owner@chebucto.ns.ca To submit a message to sust-mar (subscribers only!), please send it to: mailto:sust-mar@chebucto.ns.ca PLEASE SEND MESSAGES TO SUST-MAR IN PLAIN TEXT ONLY MESSAGES CONTAINING HTML (MIME) CANNOT BE POSTED
