Dear Friends, The big day is near! A team of oxen are coming to break ground at the new Kidston Farm Museum in Spryfield on Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 pm. Please mark the date in your calender and join us in the celebrations. This is a seminal day for urban agriculture and food security! But first we need your help. Members of the Urban Farm Museum Society, and students at Elizabeth Sutherland School, have been clearing brush from the old farm field. We need to make a last big push to clear the way for the oxen. Please join us on Sunday, September 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm to help cut brush. Bring clippers if you have them, and heavy work gloves too, if you can (but we have some spare clippers and gloves we can loan you). We also need people to remove cut brush from the field. RAIN DATE Sunday, September 30. You can park in the back parking lot of the Captain William Spry Community Centre, and walk up the hill to the field. Please call me for detailed directions -- 477-6102. Thank you for any help you can give us, and we certainly hope to see you when the oxen come.
