In the world of social justice, it is not always possible to predict what
will happen. It will not be possible always to send messages to sust-mar
in good time.

But .... here are reasons why it is better to GET YOUR MESSAGE in EARLY
when you can:

1 - some people need advance notice to attend a meeting, rally, event,
etc. Maybe they have to arrange kidcare. Maybe they are busy. Whatever.

2 - some people do not check their email every day. Unnatural but true.

3 - some other people write to sust-mar. This means that your message has
to wait its turn. If there are messages ahead of yours, your message may
wait days or even weeks before it reaches the head of the queue.

4 - some people (~10%) subscribe to the digest version of sust-mar. They
receive every message up to two weeks after it is posted on the daily
sust-mar.

So you see ... if your message appeared on sust-mar on January 1, and has
to wait 8 days to reach the front of the line, it will be posted Jan 9.
If the digest just went out on Jan 8, someone who is on the digest version
might not get that message until Jan 22. And, if that person checks email
weekly, she might not see that message until Jan 28. Even if it's
advertising a meeting on Jan 29, that might not be enough time for her to
arrange a sitter.

See the problem?

*** SEE FOR YOURSELF ... i sent this message to sust-mar on May 13. What
day are you reading it?

Please try to GET 'EM IN EARLY!

Thanks
~paul :)

CHALLENGE AUTHORITY: Don't be afraid to question authority. Authority
should be earned, not appointed. The "experts" are often proven wrong
(they used to believe that the earth was flat!). You don't have to be an
expert to have a valuable opinion or to speak out on an issue.

A word from our lawyers ...

Don't forget ... COPYRIGHT material, such as newspaper/magazine articles
cannot be posted on sust-mar without the owner's permission. It's against
the law. CROSS-POSTINGS (messages from other lists) are also discouraged.

In either case, why not tell us something about the issue in your own
words? Or ... send a clipping along with the URL where the original can be
found, or directions how to join the list it came from?

Takes a few more minutes, but makes for a more interesting sust-mar ... :)
