HRM has issued a challenge to Sydney, Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Charlottetown, Summerside, and St. John's for Earth Car Free Day. Mayor Peter Kelly is asking residents of those cities to join in with citizens of HRM in walking, cycling, busing, or car pooling on April 19th. Residents who plan to participate in Earth Car Free Day may contact the HRM Corporate Call Center at 490-4000 (7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday, and up until 10 a.m. on April 19th) and advise the municipality of what means of alternate transportation they plan to use that day. Please take the time to call, and help spread the word. This is a good opportunity for us to demonstrate strong public support for alternative transportation in HRM.
