April, 2001 A Special Offer to New Members Dear Friend of GPI, It’s newsletter time again – check out the line up in GPI News #4 (see below.) This is also an opportunity to support what you value. As you know, GPI Atlantic is a non-profit research group that is currently developing a Genuine Progress Index (GPI) consisting of 22 social, economic and environmental components. The GPI is a more accurate, comprehensive and humane measure of wellbeing and sustainable development than the economic growth measures on which we presently rely to assess how “well off” we are. Policy makers, organizations, communities and individuals who see a need for new measures to assess our wellbeing will find a wealth of creative options in our detailed and original research. GPI Atlantic provides relevant, hard information for a growing community of people who are concerned about the legacy we will leave our children. GPI Atlantic has just published a new Ecological Footprint report. This 100-page document –a $35 value – is yours free with a new membership in GPI Atlantic. We’ve previously sent out the first three issues of GPI News on a complimentary basis. (These newsletters are available on the GPI web site at www.gpiatlantic.org.) You’ve seen what we’re doing.
