April 19th! Peter Kelly has endorsed Earth Car Free Day and will be the first Mayor in Canada to sign the CFD charter (people are working on Mel Lastman!). HRM will issue a proclamation for the city. Metro Transit will be a loonie between the hours of 9:00 am -3:30 and 6:00 pm to Midnight. There will be a gathering of cyclists, rollerbladers, skateboarders, skooters, wheel chairs in a Critical Mass (5:00pm) that will move from the Community College on Bell Rd downtown to city hall. The day is meant to be liberating and give people choices in transportation - the "if you build it, they will come" idea. Posters will soon be available at the EAC to put up in your neighborhood and workplace. For more information on international events and on Car Free Day in general, check out http://www.ecoplan.org/carfreeday. We will also post notices and events on the EAC website. -Susanna Susanna D.
