Sust-mar gets so many great messages now, that the following took 5 days to reach the top of the *priority* queue. People receiving digest mode won't see it for another week or so. It refers to a meeting that is today, and another meeting that was 4 days ago. IF YOUR SUBMISSION DOES NOT APPEAR ON SUST-MAR, IT COULD BE B/C THE EVENT WAS PAST BEFORE YOUR MESSAGE REACHED THE TOP OF THE QUEUE. I will not penalize people who are on time, by allowing late messages to jump the queue. ~Paul -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Hey, The phone-in portion of the February 01/01 edition of 'Maritime Noon' examined the question of how to make our communities more sustainable. A variety of suggestions and insights were offered - by panellists and callers alike - but there were certain recurring themes which proved consentaneous. Chief amongst these were community agriculture, public transit, and wise land use planning. As the name makes clear, the North End Community Garden Association (NECGA) has always been aware of the benefits of bringing neighbours together to sow and reap and tend the local soil. Recently, however, the NECGA has decided to expand into other related areas - land use planning, solar aquatic waste treatment, and so on. To this end, the Association is looking for new members interested in laying the foundations of a new organization with a broader mandate: working towards a sustainable way of life in the Halifax Region (or, NECGA member Jason Kun puts it, "eco-logical urban communities"). Everyone and anyone is welcome to join this initiative. There will be an important NECGA meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 03 (details given below), attendance at which would be a great way to get involved. If you are intrigued by this project but can't make it to the next meeting, contact Dave McCall at 422-5744 or <necga@ns.sympatico.ca>. ---Antoni _________________________________________________________ ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 1 Feb 2001 14:28:36 -0400 From: David McCall <necga@ns.sympatico.ca> Subject: Fw: Next NECGA Meeting HI Everyone, Thanks to Megan Davies, we have a room booked.
