Index of Subjects Thank you Paul. It looks like we have to keep the pressure up for an increased education campaign and make sure they re-visit this issue in six months. There are two parts of the current program that concern me more than this ten bag limit though: 1. Somewhere near 40-50% of the "households" in Metro live in apartments, yet these households are treated as second-class citizens within the current recycling/composting program. Landlords pay similar taxes as house owners yet they are required to pay tax TWICE by dealing with their resource/waste stream themselves. The city appears to "wipe their hands" of their responsibility and I do not think enough is being done to insure all landlords are complying with the new regulations. 2. And the other biggy, which really bothers me (as a member of the tourism & hospitality industry), is the failure of food and beverage outlets to reduce and divert waste. I am always on the lookout for operations with a visible waste reduction and source separation campaign, yet I RARELY find that any of them are complying with the current laws ...and this is leading to tonnes of organic waste heading to the dump. What happens to these organics btw? Is it separated by hand at Otter Lake or does it slip into the bowels of the landfill?
