Atlantic Popular Educators Network

APEN was formed in 1994, as a network for popular educators. Its purpose
is to
enable popular educators to share analysis, techniques, and practices.
APEN
sponsored two workshops at Saint Mary’s University, in the Fall of 1994
and
again in January 1996, and a regional conference at the Tatamagouche
Centre,
in March 1995. The increasing activity of the Canadian Network for
Democratic
Learning (CANDLE), supported by both the labour movement and adult
education
organizations, led to a meeting last June between Bud Hall and two Metro
organizations to discuss CANDLE and reviving the regional organization
APEN.

Groups and Individuals interested in APEN include:
· Labour Educators
· Community Economic Development Workers
· Literacy and Adult Education Workers
· Popular Theatre Workers
· African Nova Scotians
· First Nations
· Students
