******** 5 Job OPEN in the Caribbean ******** BELIZE MICRO-FINANCE OFFICER/TRAINER The cooperant will work with the Belize Enterprise for Sustainable Technology (BEST) at its headquarters in Belmopan, the capital of Belize. The cooperant would assist in developing appropriate training programmes for staff in micro credit management, and in programme delivery in rural communities; and in designing training workshops in small business management for potential borrowers. The cooperant should possess a Masters or Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Accounting. S/he must have at least three years experience in micro credit management, micro enterprise development and/or financial management. The cooperant should be computer literate. A knowledge of Spanish would be an asset. BELIZE TRAINER/ORGANISER IN GENDER ISSUES The cooperant will work with the National Women's Commission of Belize that was established in 1982 to serve as an advisory body to government on issues relating to women. Duties will include assisting the secretariat of the Commission in the development of effective administrative systems and structures, and providing training to staff in the management of these systems, training members of the Commission in gender analysis and advocacy, especially in the promotion of gender awareness. Candidates must have a first degree in the social sciences or women's studies; a minimum of five years experience working with community or women's groups, be able to provide training to persons of varying levels of education and skills in grant/proposal writing. Some knowledge of Spanish would be an asset. JAMAICA POLICY ANALYST (ON WOMEN'S ISSUES) The Bureau of Women's Affairs is the government agency that provides advice to the government on policy issues as it relates to the condition of women. The cooperant will assist the Bureau in research on the policies being implemented, provide support to the Bureau on its work with communities and women's groups, provide training for policy makers and provide support in the development of gender policies. Candidates should have at least a second degree in the social sciences and be familiar with gender issues. Skills in research, informal education and workshop facilitation, and experience of working with community and/or women's groups are required. JAMAICA PROGRAMME SUPPORT OFFICER The cooperant will work with the CUSO Caribbean office assisting in the coordination activities related to the implementation of CIDA's gender equity fund in Jamaica. The Fund in the Caribbean provides strategic support to the work of government and non-government agencies aimed at increasing opportunities for women in CARICOM countries to participate in the sustainable development of their societies by encouraging gender equity. Duties include providing support for project monitoring activities, providing advice and training to project beneficiaries, assisting in the identification of organisations and projects for support and providing input for the preparation of Gender Fund country strategies. The candidate should have proven experience in gender analysis, and should understand results based management. Programme management and administrative skills are essential. The candidate should also have several years experience of working on programming issues with women's groups and be willing to work with persons who live in rural and economically depressed communities. A knowledge of the Caribbean region would be an asset.
