You are all invited to join our group going to the: Long Range Mountains, Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland Located on the East End of Western Brook Pond, this map and compass traverse is the ultimate hiking challenge that Gros Morne National Park offers, at 35km. The Western Brook Pond Boat takes hikers along the edge of the magnificent fjords to a 600m incline, the beginning of the trip. An alternate route to the boat-ride is available along the North Rim of Western Brook Pond (an extra 27km). As this is a very strenuous traverse backcountry equipment and experience is essential. A pre-trip orientation is required by parks people at the Visitor's Center as well as viewing of the video Backpacking in the Long Range.
