Details below. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- JOIN US FOR THE FOUNDING MEETING OF THE SIERRA CLUB OF CANADA -- ATLANTIC CANADA CHAPTER When: July 14-16, 2000 Where: Margaree Harbour, on the scenic Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Island Speakers: Elizabeth May, Janet Eaton, Mary Gorman, and many more (Farley Mowat and Max Ferguson, invited...) We are very excited about this chance to get together, share news and information on key issues of concern -- the Tar Ponds, Clear-cutting, the gypsum mine next to Bornish Hills, pesticides and off shore oil and gas in the southern gulf of St.Lawrence -- as well as a special session on globalization! All this and a campfire on the beach, with possible side trips for whale and bird watching... We will also "vision" our new chapter, its goals, and how we can work with other Atlantic environmental groups, synergistically! Camping is available at no charge to members. Housing is also available at no charge! Food will be available based on what you can afford as a donation. Child care too!! Space is limited so, please contact the Sierra Club to let us know if you are coming! For non-members the cost of registration is easy! All you have to do is Join the Club! (Regular single membership is $35) Please plan on bringing musical instruments, energy and a commitment to saving the Earth. By PUBLIC TRANSIT, take Acadian Lines to Whycocomagh (pickup from Margaree Harbour can be arranged). Closest air service is Sydney. Via Rail stops in Truro.
