Hello everyone, I was just reading the paper and came across a few of the HRM notices that need to be included in some kind of a public interest bulletin board. I will give a synopsis of a couple below. If anyone knows of community groups in these areas that should know of these meetings, please let them know. Scott Yetman WESTERN COMMONS 6000 acres extending from Hwy. 103 near timberlea to Hatchett Lake. This is the former watershed for Big Indian Lake. Project # 00112 On may 24th @ 7, Brookside Jr. High Library, 2239 Prospect Rd. a meeting will be held to discuss proposed amendments to land use policies, etc. The community wants a wlderness area, with HRM surely looking at develping the land. Phone Paul Morgan, HRM planner at 490-4482 for more info. CASE #00199 Chrysler wants to build a new car dealership at 102 Penhorn DR. in Dartmouth. This is right next to a congested road, and will only be made worse by this one. A public info meeting will be held on May 25th @ 7 in the Hfx. school board bldg. on the Dartmouth waterfront. CASE #00251 Clayton developments wants to develop 93 acres bounded by Portland Estates, Portland St., and Morris Lake. This area was once a wonderful wooded area, there is now a lot less of it. The meeting will be held on May 31st @ 7 at the Bel Ayr School gym. Sorry, no address. CASE # 00238 2nd meeting regarding dev't application by Larex properties to rezone land at exit 3, Hwy 103. They want to build a large commercial dev't adjacent to the interchange. Another example of creating these new commercial centres away from traditional community centres. Meeting will be held on May 25th @ 7, Lakeside Fire Hall, 26 Myra Rd., in the community of Lakeside. For any info on any of these projects, you can phone HRM planning staff at 490-4393 and they will direct you to the proper staff member. Please e-mail this to any group who might be interested.
