This is a copy of a letter I just sent to the local papers. Hope it is = appropriate for this list. Bruce Hollett There has been much discussion lately on traffic congestion, both = locally and on provincial highways. Most comments favour solutions which will allow more cars and trucks on = our roads which leads to more congestion. In other words, no gain in = the long run. However, it is gratifying to hear from those who support improved public = transit and investment in railway infrastructure. Direct capital = investment in this direction goes a long way towards solving traffic = problems in an environmentally and fiscally responsible manner. Our elected representatives should be looking at expanding pulic transit = on a provincial scale and finacially assisting railways to upgrade their = rights of way. Yours truly; =20 G.
