The Community Animation Program(CAP) is a joint program of Health =
Canada
and Environment Canada. Its goal is to strengthen the ability of =
community
groups to work on issues that link human health and the environment. =
CAP
provides training, facilitation and information to groups.=20

Is the program making a difference? Attached is a short three page =
summary
of the CAP evaluation report covering the period from July 1997-October
1998. Recommendations from this report provided direction for the =
1999-2000
fiscal year.

   <<Summary of CAP Evaluationrt.rtf>> text

Looking Ahead - CAP will be conducting six workshops on Strategic =
Planning
in Newfoundland and Labrador in November. They will be free for =
community
groups working on health, environment and social development issues. A =
focus
of the workshop will be to help groups incorporate the links between =
health,
environment and social development in their strategic planning. Similar
workshops will be run in the Maritime provinces in February and March. =
The
regular CAP program continues: Groups are also able to apply for =
training,
facilitation, and information specific to their group.

We are please to have Annie-France Gravel as our Francophone contact =
for CAP
Atlantic, 902-426-6806.

If you are interested in borrowing information for groups you are =
working
with please see the contact information below. CAP has materials in our
resource centre ranging from videos on linked health and environment =
issues
to books on board development and strategic planning and publications
produced by Health Canada and Environment Canada.

Beyond March 31, 2000 - Presently Health Canada and Environment Canada =
are
reviewing feedback from sources such as CAP groups for the next phase =
of the
program.=20
