Dear Sust-mar folks, This is the intro message for a new (low volume!!) peace list. For a long time now, peace & environmental issues have been linked in NS, especially with nuclear issues... the plutonium shipment scheduled to come through Halifax is the latest incarnation of that double menace. There's so much more, though, and there's an apparently renewed interest in the peace movement. We had NS delegates to the Hague conference in May, caucuses examining the issues of the war show, plutonium shipment, many events against the war in the Balkans, etc... To be effective, though, this movement will have to reach many like-minded people. So this is a plea to subscribe, and to send this message to as many people as you know. Thanks! Daniel. ****** Hello, This is the welcome message that is sent to all those who subscribe to the peace-list. Please take a couple of minutes to read it, then save it for future reference. Thank you. The list was set up not only to inform people about our campaign to end sanctions against Iraq, but also to get information out for all peace-related groups in Metro and Nova Scotia. The volume should be very low, probably on the order of 3/wk, more if events require. We've arbitrarily decided that it should not exceed one message per day. The list is moderated. The peace-list mailing list is managed with the aid of PMDF MAILSERV software. o To post a message everyone on this mailing list, mail it to peace-list@ac.dal.ca o Administrative actions, such as removing yourself from the list, are accomplished by mailing command lines to the mailing list server at the address mailserv@ac.dal.ca Command lines go in the body of your message, one per line. NOTE: Mail sent to "mailserv@ac.dal.ca" should contain only commands. Extra text, such as a "signature" should not be included because it too will be treated as commands and cause an "Errors in MAILSERV command processing" notification to be returned to you. o To subscribe to the list, send mailserv@ac.dal.ca the command subscribe peace-list When your e-mail address has been added to the list you'll receive two e-mail messages, one to confirm your addition to the list and a second with this "welcome" announcement. o To remove yourself from the list, send mailserv@ac.dal.ca the command unsubscribe peace-list When your e-mail address has been removed from the list you'll receive a confirmation message by e-mail. o All mail sent to the list is recorded in list archive files, one per month. To retrieve a file from the list archive, send the command send peace-list.yyyymm where "yyyymm" is the year and month (e.g., 199906 is June 1999) for which you would like the archived messages. o A full list of MAILSERV commands can be obtained by sending the command help o Inquiries about this list may be e-mailed to peace-list-request@ac.dal.ca -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- You received this because you are subscribed to "sust-mar", the Sustainable Maritimes mailing list.
