nspirg is a student funded and directed non-profit, non-partisan, and non-governmental organization that focuses on environmental and social justice issues. We have eight working groups: Burma Support Network, Eco-Action, Economic Justice, Humans Against Homophobia (HAH!), Animal Liberation Collective, Womyn's Health Collective, Peace Action Group and Cinema PIRGatory. We also have a volunteer run food cooperative and an organic community garden. Garden Coordinator [ Seymour Green] Summary of position - relocate nspirg's organic community garden - recruit additional garden members - design a garden plan that would best suit the new site - conduct research in area of organic gardening as well as biotechnology, genetically modified seeds and foods and their effect on health and the environment -lead workshops on these topics and create educational materials for nspirg Qualifications -must possess a minimum of one year post-secondary education -demonstrated interest in environmental and social justice issues -background/experience in organic gardening -good interpersonal and communication skills -must be self-motivated, have good organizational skills and the ability to work well independently Eligibility You must have attended university/college/trade school full-time during the 98/99 school year and be returning to full-time study in the fall. You must have been a resident of Nova Scotia for the past six months.
