About 2 yrs ago, listening to a CBC Radio noon-time call-in show I heard of a couple that moved here from NB and bought a house with a deck on the back made out of "pressure-treated" wood (PTW). They thought nothing of this and proceeded to buy a berry bush and install it in their back yard. After hearing many stories (and facts) about the danger of arsenic (a known neurotoxin and carcinogen) and chromium leaching from PTW with the actions of rain, melting ice and snow, they decided to have their first harvest of berries sent to Truro for analysis. This test batch and every subsequent one that they sent came back testing positive for the presence of arsenic in the berries. If you would like to gain more facts about the dangers associated with PTW and alternatives to its useage, please consult my "public_html" files that have the heading "ptw..." as part of their title (one in text and one in MS Word format). Stop the pollution of our earth and the degradation in the quality of our environment by refusing to use or be associated with the use of PTW! Thank you. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- You received this because you are subscribed to "sust-mar", the Sustainable Maritimes mailing list.
