In one of the crowning and culminating celebrations of the International = Year of the Ocean, this year=92s conference has appropriately come to = Halifax, which has the world=92s second largest concentration of ocean = specialists. The conference convenors =97 a group of eminent Canadians, = chaired by the Honourable Allan J. MacEachen and dedicated to the = objectives of the IOI =97 will bring together a series of distinguished = speakers including former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dr. Ruud = Lubbers; Canadian Minister of Fisheries and Oceans David Anderson; = Canadian Minister for International Cooperation Diane Marleau; and = Chairman of the Earth Council Mr. Maurice Strong.
